Day 312: Motivational Tools

Annoying ‘not Sinister Exercise’ post.  Hey, this is the stuff that gets me to where I can write those posts.  I have looked, read and am still looking and reading to find inspiration, motivation, schedules, goals.  All that stuff that everyone is looking for, THE answer that will make them _______.  ( Fill in your own blank.)

Waving the white flag of submission, I too am guilty.  I want that quick answer.  Guess what?  Not going to happen.  Regardless of every ‘overnight success’ you read about, the truth lies in the dedication and hard work that got them from their beginning to the day a goodly junk of the population knew their name.

The difference between failure and success is the stamina to hold on to the idea.  The follow through work ethic, the habit, of doing the same thing(s) every day until one day, it is good enough. Simple.

Those are not the words that anyone wants to hear.  That is not the answer that wanted for the  question of ‘How do I _______?”.  Work/practice.  Tough words.

Work.  Practice.  Repeat. Or in a writing terms – Read. Write. Repeat.  Read everything.  Write, which is more than just getting ideas down.  That’s brainstorming, writing rough, edit, rewrite, edit, polish, edit. Read some more, write more.  Repeat.

Funny, that is pretty motivational to me.  It is also doable.  For how long?  Indefinitely.  Until I die or forever, which ever comes first.
